Loughborough College student Etty Sisson brought home a gold medal after helping Team GB’s medley relay team to victory at the European Under 18s Athletics Championships in Israel.

Etty, 17, a 400m runner, anchored the medley relay as Great Britain stormed to gold against the reigning champions from Italy in Jerusalem this week. She is currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence.

Etty was joined in the Team GB under 18s squad by classmate Jamie Carrot, 17, who reached the final of the 200m where he finished fifth. Jamie is currently studying A Levels.

Martyn Rooney, a former Olympic medallist who know heads the College’s elite athletics academy, said: “We’re so pleased for Etty and Jamie for representing the college and their country with such distinction over in Jerusalem.

“They are both tremendous athletes and fantastic students and we’re extremely proud of them and their deserved achievements.

“The experience of competing on the international stage will give them both incredible confidence and invaluable learning.”
