Loughborough College’s Esports team, the Loughborough Lycans, have won a national invitational tournament – their first British contest.

The Lycans’ Rocket League team won all four of their matches to win the Acer Esports Invitational Tournament, in partnership with British Esports, at the BETT London.

The team won their group with three straight wins against Framlington Fusion, Wilmington Academy and Wycliffe College. They triumphed in the final against Wilmington Academy to take the series 2-1.

Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for Esports at Loughborough College, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team who showed their class and passion for the game with a clean sweep.

“One of the great things about Esports is that it fosters an amazing teamwork spirit and that really came across in their performances throughout the tournament.

“Their achievement is even more impressive when you consider our Esports programme was only launched in September. This will, hopefully, be the first of many successes.”
