College secures eight nominations in national inclusion awards

Loughborough College has secured eight nominations for the national FREDIE Awards which champion the country’s most diverse and inclusive people and organisations.

The College is up for Most Improved Organisation of the Year and has seven people nominated across seven categories in the awards which are run by the National Centre for Diversity (NCD).

Earlier this year, the College was awarded Investors in Diversity accreditation from the NCD following a major drive to enhance its approach to diversity and inclusion.

Initiatives included updating a range of policies to make them more inclusive; rolling out training in everything from allyship to transgender and non-binary awareness; organising a showcase of different cultures and food festivals.

Loughborough College’s nominees are:

  • Amanda James – Employee of the Year
  • Nimisha Thanki - Most Innovative FREDIE Initiative and Most Inspiring Individual of the Year
  • Nicole Yates – Most Inspiring Individual of the Year
  • Dannii Donovan – FREDIE Lead of the Year
  • Raj Bhindi – Employee of the Year
  • Emma Kilby-Brooks – HR Director/Manager of the Year
  • Maxine Mattravers – Most Inspiring Individual of the Year
  • Loughborough College – Most Improved Organisation of the Year

“It really shows how staff have embraced the FREDIE values which have become such an important part of our culture – influencing everything from the way we recruit to the way we develop our people.

“While Loughborough College already had inclusion at its heart, aiming for Investors in Diversity accreditation challenged our thinking and approach to help us enhance how we do things. Our nominees have all played key roles in this and I wish them the very best of luck at the awards.”

The seventh annual FREDIE awards will be held at Villa Park, Birmingham, on Thursday 9th June 2022.
