The Loughborough College Pan Ability Football team proudly represented Leicester City in the Community during an invitational football match against Brentford FC Community Sports Trust in London last week.
The event, held in conjunction with the Premier League clash between Brentford FC and Leicester City FC at Gtech Community Stadium, provided an unforgettable experience for the players.
The team’s journey to London was part of a national broader initiative by Premier League clubs to foster inclusivity and promote the importance of community engagement and connection through sport.
After the match, the Loughborough team had the chance to attend a Premier League game at Gtech Community Stadium, as Leicester City faced Brentford FC.
Dan Jackson, Curriculum Manager for Elite Sport at Loughborough College, highlighted the significance of the day, saying:
"This was an incredible opportunity for our players to represent Leicester City in the Community and engage with a similar group from Brentford. Experiences like this are invaluable in building confidence, developing friendships, and showcasing the role of football as a tool for inclusion. We’re immensely proud of our players for their dedication and enthusiasm."
Pan Ability football allows players with a broad spectrum of impairments and health conditions to play together. Across England, there are more than 2,000 pan ability teams providing players with an environment to play competitively on a regular basis.
Loughborough College’s long history with supporting para sport has produced a number of elite para-athletes, including Paralympians Thomas Young MBE, Ellie Simmonds OBE, and Gladiators star Jodie Ounsley.
