College classroom becoming a star of the silver screen

Posted: 15th July 2022 - 4:00pm

A Loughborough College classroom which simulates the cabin of a passenger jet is set to ‘star’ in the latest film by an award-winning writer, producer and director.

Keith Large, who has won numerous awards for his short films over the years, is producing the third in a trilogy of short films called ‘Wheel Gone Kid Three and a Half’ and will film a scene in the college’s Boeing 737 training cabin.

The cabin was built last year to help develop the skills of our travel and tourism programme students. It is the second time this year it has been used as a makeshift film set.

Wheel Gone Kid Three and a Half will also feature professional actress Eleanor Burke who has starred in a string of West End productions and featured in the 2012 Oscar-nominated film Kon Tiki.

Keith, who is also a supervising technician in the College’s engineering department, said: “The piece we are filming is a comedy titled ‘Wheel Gone Kid Three and a Half’ and is co-written by myself and the film’s director Wayne Kelly. We have a scene on a plane between an air steward and a passenger and the classroom offers the perfect stage.”

Keith has also drafted in fellow staff members Joanne Wells and Umair Syed to perform in the scene which is being filmed on 20th July.

Earlier this year, the cabin classroom was used as a film set as part of a Loughborough University student’s degree course.
