An Evening of Culture: a night to celebrate

Talented staff and students performed a celebration of Loughborough College’s diverse and inclusive culture at a special event held in March 2022.

The Evening of Culture event brought the College together and saw some fantastic musical, dance and poetry performances. The evening was topped off with an ‘around the world’-themed cuisine.  

 

Nimisha Thanki, Sixth Form Lecturer at Loughborough College, organised the event and said: “Organising the event and collaborating with staff and students from across the college to celebrate their cultural diversity was a fantastic experience.

“It was inspiring to see teams come together to demonstrate important skills and qualities such as teamwork and organisation.

“The students were passionate about performing and this event created a platform for them to express their talent. Their dedication and commitment to the event was admirable.

“I sincerely want to thank everyone for their support with the event and I cannot wait to organise the next Event of Culture.”

 

, Principal and CEO of Loughborough College, said: “It was wonderful to see the students’ hard work, talent and creativity come to life on stage to entertain and celebrate the diverse and inclusive culture we foster at Loughborough College.

“It was clear just how much dedication was put into the production by staff and students and they should all be very proud.” 

Students were able to develop skills such as; creativity, public speaking, and time management.

 

Sapna Narotam, a Year 12 Sixth Form student at Loughborough College, said: “The show was amazing to be part of as I could showcase my talent! It was great to be given an opportunity to perform and I think similar events should take place so that all students of all abilities can showcase their talent”

Yasmine Al-Saket, another Year 12 Sixth Form student at Loughborough College, said: “An Evening of Culture was a brilliant experience. It was an absolute pleasure to host the event with Nimisha.”

Maria Choudhury, a Foundation Learning student at Loughborough College said: “Taking part in this event was wonderful. I love singing and wish I had more opportunities like this to do it.”

There was  a mountain of positive feedback from parents, friends and other staff that watched the event with some signing up to get involved in the next one.
