Orlagh Ward | Engineering

Student Orlagh is working towards a qualification in Level 3 Engineering. Having applied for an apprenticeship at Mars, Loughborough College were able to create a bespoke pathway for Orlagh to complete her course before going on for a Level 4 HNC in Engineering.

Passionate about expanding her career prospects, Orlagh shares that Engineering at Loughborough College offers a vast range of course content. “There’s plenty to get stuck into, and everything is easy to follow. We also have access to the online LearnZone portal which means if there is anything I need to reflect on, it’s available and easy to access.”

There are so many opportunities to grow, both academically and professionally.

Orlagh has also been active in extracurricular activities and has worked closely with her peers to make life at Loughborough College the best it can be. “As a student, I have been provided with plenty of opportunities to share my feedback and opinions. I’ve been able to help improve the experience of the course for myself, and others.”

Curriculum Manager for Engineering, Chris Abel agrees that Orlagh has shown initiative and has a bright future ahead, saying, “Orlagh is already showing outstanding achievement especially in maths and science subjects. She has been achieving distinction level work and is already assisting other students in the classroom to achieve their goals and aspirations.”

Looking ahead, Orlagh is aiming high, sharing, “I want to go to university, completing a full degree in engineering. I’d also love to expand professionally and expand my knowledge of engineering and the potential routes I can take.”
