Industry Insights, Confidence, and Support – How International Student Layla Aims to Achieve Her Goals
Layla is a Level 3 Hairdressing learner, whose journey at Loughborough College started when she arrived from Albania. Having learnt English in order to get closer to achieving her goals, Layla returned to education when she joined the College as a mature student, learning English in order to achieve her goals of becoming a hair stylist and teacher.

As a Hairdressing student, Layla spends time in the Radmoor Centre’s dedicated training salon, where she accesses exciting and inspirational opportunities. As a student in the Hairdressing and Barbering course, Layla and her classmates have the chance to learn from other industry professionals, make new connections, and take part in competitions both locally and nationally.
Studying as a mature learner with English as an additional language, the support of the staff in the Radmoor Centre has been invaluable for Layla’s continued success. “When I have needed it, the support from my tutors has been there. They are always so professional, and willing to help. They have offered me support in the salon, with my English skills, and emotionally, they have always been there for me.”
Looking ahead, Layla’s aspirations of becoming a hairstylist and teacher are looking bright, and she credits life at the College as motivation for achieve her dreams. “Of course, I’d recommend Loughborough College!” Layla says. “I have told friends and family how much confidence I have built since joining, and my son will be here to study too in September.”
