Loughborough College student, Katelyn Moss, tells us all about studying for her T Level in Education and Early Years.
Katelyn had heard a lot of positive things about Loughborough College before applying, “I heard how they have helped other people get to their dream job,” says Katelyn “and my course is fun and creative but can be challenging with a mixture of practical and theory lessons. Which I find enjoyable.”
This first year has been really interesting. I’ve learned a lot about myself and what I want to do
As part of the T Level, learners are required to partake in industry placements that will give them real-life opportunities to put their class learning into practice. This is a feature Katelyn really enjoys, “it allows us to build confidence up when in different settings” she says “this course has increased my confidence massively”.
Katelyn has dyslexia but hasn’t felt that has stood in her way of succeeding, “My tutors have been very supportive of me and if I need any advice or guidance, they are always willing to give it,” she says, “I can talk to them about anything and they won’t judge me for expressing it”.
The T level route has been a great option for Katelyn, she would recommend it to anyone considering it “it opens a lot more offers to working in just childcare as it covers a wider age ranges and doesn’t limit who you can work with and gives you industry experience.”
She’s feeling confident about the future, while she’s certain what role she’d like to be in she is certain that the T Level and the college have given her the tools she needs “I know that I want to work in childcare, and starting to explore what I want to do more.”
