After looking at multiple colleges, Jack Hammond, 21, decided to study at Loughborough College. "Many people I work with have taken the same course, and they recommended it as the most suitable option for both ease of working hours and quality of teaching," Jack said.
Despite the course's fast-paced nature, it has been a great experience for Jack. "So far, it's been exciting. My course at Loughborough College comprises a small class, so everyone knows each other and interacts well." He further states, "we get plenty of individual teaching because of this, which is excellent."
The apprenticeship pathways offer the most promising career prospects compared to the other options available and is a good way to learn and earn.
According to Jack, the college's overall facilities are "excellent." And he would recommend this course to anyone interested in accounting. "If you start at Level 2, the course is easy to pick up with minimal knowledge, and the teaching is exceptional, which makes learning the more challenging parts of the course easier."
A new sense of confidence has emerged for Jack due to the support he has received at Loughborough College and from his employer. "My employer allows me to work on urgent college work during normal business hours, and the college lets me attend after work hours if I have a busy schedule." And "they both provide a reliable support network should I ever need it," he added.
Jack works for the Loughborough-based chartered accounting firm Robert Whowell & Partners. "Robert Whowell & Partners is a rewarding place to work, and I have gained significant experience since joining them in August 2020," he stated.
In addition to learning a great deal in accounting, Jack has also gained knowledge about other things. He works on numerous jobs day-to-day, which, in his opinion, "keeps things fresh and interesting at all times."
As for his job duties, he said, "I have a variety of responsibilities which include daily bookkeeping for clients, preparing year-end accounts and VAT returns, as well as looking after and assisting the company's new apprentices."
Among the many options available for prospective learners, Jack endorses the Apprenticeship route. "The apprenticeship pathways offer the most promising career prospects compared to the other options available and is a good way to learn and earn."
In the future, Jack hopes "to become a fully qualified chartered accountant. From then, I plan to stay where I am currently and work my way up the business," he concluded.
