We are looking for a full time enthusiastic and motivated Junior Design Engineer to join our innovative team based in the rural area of Desford. MJ Products Ltd design and manufacture innovative solutions for lifting, moving, and handling equipment. Their range includes lifters, stackers, and bespoke handling solutions designed for a variety of industries, such as retail, logistics, and manufacturing. A key aspect of their products is the patented duo pump lifting technology, which is designed to offer efficient and cost-effective handling without requiring electrical power.
One of our notable innovations is VanMate, a portable lifting system tailored for van and delivery drivers, allowing them to lift and transport goods up to 250kg without the need for additional equipment like cranes or tail lifts. This system is modular, lightweight, and highly adaptable, making it ideal for businesses that require frequent deliveries with minimal handling equipment.
Duties:
As the teams Junior Design Engineer your duties will involve these Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD designs using SolidWorks.
• Convert 3D models to MRP and oversee first off production and evaluation of new products
• Collaborate with senior engineers on various projects from concept to production.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations using our FEA based software tools to ensure optimum product functionality and safety.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input for product improvement.
• Create photo realistic renderings of new products to support our sales and marketing team.
Skills and Qualifications required
Skills and requirements:
Please note you will need the following skills to apply for this role:
• Have means to commute to a semi-rural location.
• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software; SolidWorks experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• High attention to detail and a passion for design innovation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or similar simulation tools.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
• Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Hours per week
39 hours per week. Start can be 8am or 830am with finish to suit. Friday tends to be a shorter day - Finish by 2pm.
