Learners Ryan Deamer and Eve McKellar chose Loughborough College for their sporting degrees. Inspired by their tutors and staff, both Ryan and Eve credit the holistic and personal approach of Loughborough College for their success. Having both earned their First-Class honours, Eve has gone on to open a private sports therapy clinic, and former HE Student Governor Ryan was awarded the title of Outstanding UK Start Up Student of the Year at the 2023 Young Enterprise UK Start Up Finals.
“I wanted to be in a place with a high performing environment and high performing individuals,” said Ryan, who gained a degree in Applied Sports Science with Management.
“I chose Loughborough College because of the offering and services. The approach here is very holistic and that really works for me,” he continued. Sports and Exercise Therapy graduate Eve agreed, adding, “I studied for my Level 3 BTEC in Sport and Exercise Sciences at Loughborough College previously, and really enjoyed it. I loved the staff, and knew their expertise and experience was going to help me going forward.”
Reflecting further on the tutors and lecturers at College, Ryan found staff support invaluable, commenting, “I work hard to apply myself to studies, and wanted to work on a course that allowed me to build relationships and connect with my lecturers. I wanted to come away with more than just a degree, and that’s what Loughborough College has given me.”
For Eve, it’s the strategic approach to course content and materials that has made her experience at Loughborough College so worthwhile. “The course has really set me up for my future. I’ve started my own business, and the modules from College have been invaluable to that success. Having small groups in class has given us a really personal approach to learning, it’s not something you get at other universities or colleges.”
Looking ahead, both Ryan and Eve are confident that the skills and knowledge developed at the College have put them in prime position for success. “My experience at Loughborough College was fantastic. I’m currently working as a Project Manager for a consultancy firm,” Shared Ryan. “It’s exciting, and our vision is to help clients thrive. I couldn’t be happier.”
Eve agrees, adding, “My business in sports therapy has skyrocketed. I have gone into this career with knowledge that has really equipped me for success. I am so confident now for the future of my career.”
