APPRENTICESHIPSUMMARY

Fantastic opportunity to become a qualified Machining Technician with hands-on training and experience, being involved in the manufacture of special purpose equipment, components and assemblies. We are looking for someone to start in February ahead of a September 2025 enrolment.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and self-inspect parts
  • Measuring tools used Vernier’s, Callipers, Micrometres, Gauges etc.
  • Taking measurements and marking material for cutting or shaping
  • Selecting appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
  • Setting and Operating CNC Machine Tools (in line with your capability/progression)
  • Manual Turning
  • Learn a range of machining strategies to increase accuracy and productivity
  • Utilise driven tooling to reduce machining times
  • Learn to adjust a range of machining parameters to maximise machining outcomes
  • De-burr/polish finished parts
  • Maintain the machine shop and machines as required

Things to consider

Candidate must be able to reliably commute to Loughborough College as required. Please note, shortlisting will commence from 6th January onwards so please check for updates from this time. The start date for the role will be in February and enrolment at apprenticeship enrolment will be over summer, ready for college sessions to begin in September.
