Hairdressers will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. Hairdressers must be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. They also need to be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with their role and be able to work without supervision to a high level of precision, with exceptional client care skills.

Where you
can work
You can work in a range of hair salons as your training as a stylist, this will develop your skills for the understanding and knowledge to be competent to run a column of clients.

- Within the first months additional training is delivered at Loughborough College – Weekly on Monday’s 9.00-15.00 - If Functional Skills are required these will take place Monday’s 15:00-17:00.

Information
This Apprenticeship consists of a mixture of blended learning in the work place and taught delivery at Loughborough College. The taught element will be every Monday at Loughborough College for the duration of the practical delivery of the Apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
& Functional Skills
Typically, 3 GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above (one must be English or Maths), or Level 2 in Hairdressing required. (VQR)
Apprentices with GCSE grades C/4 or above in English and Maths are exempt from Functional Skills.
If an Apprentice has not already achieved Level 2 (GCSE C/4 or above) English & Maths they must: - Study for and take tests for Level 2 English & Maths and achieve Level 1 English & Maths.
Initial Assessment results on enrolment: Maths Entry 3 and English Level 1 or higher.

On-programme is the learning phase for Apprentices to apply the academic theory to their own organisations and role, and to capture the skills, knowledge and behaviours developed on the programme and in the workplace. To achieve this, Apprentices need to complete off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their Apprenticeship, this can be tracked and monitored through our e-portfolio. This might be achieved through shadowing colleagues, E-learning, internal training and research as well as taught sessions by Loughborough College.
